Growing up was tough
The roads were just rough
My mother and father
Couldn't take care of their daughters
My mother or father couldn't live with out each other
But he left us here to make more money
No he never really left us,
He told us he would visit when he has the chance
He brings money and clothes and American Food
I have a sister, I am the oldest
My mother grew weary so I had to take over
I protected her when she needed it,
I would put her to sleep,
Tucking her in tight telling her to go to sleep
My mother would watch and tell me
'One day..' She would start and pause
her next few lines would always make me cry
she looked and said 'You will be a better mother then me'
She would walk away and I would look at my feet
I would yell mother every time and begin to cry
But i understand why,
I am who I am
My mother was so ashamed of herself, she locked herself away
Not even my father could help her come out,
So i made a vow to a better mother
And a better wife then who she was
Because she made me who I am,
So now i know,
I am who I am
